Evaluation Of The Effects Of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) On An NDOT HMA Mixture
Date
2010Type
Technical ReportAbstract
This report presents a summary of an evaluation conducted on the hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures placed in June, 2010 on Contract 3399 an overlay project on McCarran Boulevard from 7th Street to North Virginia Street (SR 430) in Reno, Nevada. The evaluation included a traditional NDOT mixture (designated as Control) and a mixture containing recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) (designated as RAP Mix), as well as portions of the RAP material itself (designated as RAP). Overall the analysis included field data and laboratory testing to characterize the differences between the placed material. A mechanistic analysis was conducted to incorporate the complex interactions of the differing material properties to assess their potential influence on the performance of the respective mixtures.
