This paper compares the response of the low-rise seismically isolated building with and without torsional ground motion. The response of the building under pulse-like and non-pulse like ground motions are also compared. For the study, a low-rise base-isolated building is analyzed under seven pulse-like ground motions and seven non-pulse like ground motions. Each ground motion was divided into three load cases: GMs with torsion, GMs with negative torsion and GMs without torsion. The building was then analyzed under each load case and the response of the building was studied. The response of the building under ground motions with torsional components was higher as compared to the response of the building under ground motions without torsional component. Effect on the building under pulse-like ground motions is also higher than that of non-pulse like ground motions.
