An Examination of Video Preference Among Collegiate Rodeo Athletes

The problem under examination for this study is that collegiate rodeo athletes do not have a sport specific psychological skill development/performance enhancement product available to them as do athletes in mainstream sports. The answer to this deficit was the creation of a credible, effective, and theoretically based video specific to this population. The focus of the project was to create two videos (traditional and spiritual) not significantly different in social influence ratings and to examine the relationship between the athletes' spirituality and their level of agreement with the statement "I like this video" after viewing each video. Further, this study revealed the collegiate athlete's preference of the two videos. Lastly, the data and identified themes from three open-ended questions regarding the participant's preference of sport psychology video will drive the production of future videos for this population.
