Factors not related to a criminal case may have a significant impact on the final dispositional outcome of a criminal case. In this study, data from Clark County in southern Nevada is analyzed to identify relationships between case processing time, crime type, crime severity, presiding judge, and the successful conviction of criminal defendants. This study found a relationship between the success of prosecutions and case processing time, as well as a relationship between the transfer processing time and the severity of the offense committed by the defendant.
