Abstract
A three-dimensional seismic array was set up to record pre-S phases north of the Long Valley caldera. Results indicate that the pre-S phase is a compressional wave approaching from the same azimuth and dip as the P phase. The pre-S phase is interpreted as possibly being the result of an S to P conversion.
