    Abstract
    The increasingly networked, scholarly information environment requires librarians to use more and different standards in order to manage electronic resources (ER) well. Many key activities associated with the various stages in the life-cycle of ER will benefit from the development and adherence to standards. This chapter will review a number of major standardization initiatives that have emerged to address those needs.
