Chemistry is the science of the structure, reactions, energetics, and control of matter.
The Department of Chemistry in the College of Science has earned a strong reputation as a leading teaching and research oriented department.
Nevada offers one undergraduate degree in chemistry, with four emphases:
The "Professional" and "Environmental Chemistry" emphases provide the most rigorous chemistry training and are professional degrees certified by the American Chemical Society.
The "Pre-Medical" and "General" emphases offer additional flexibility for students who need courses required of students preparing for careers in medicine, dentistry, law and other professions.
